Sequined Out
Happy Monday! It’s time for another one of my favorite holiday outfits. Last Monday I shared with you my favorite holiday dress, an emerald green Audrey Hepburn style dress. Many of us won’t be going to formal events this holiday season, but instead will be attending holiday office parties. Today’s holiday look is an outfit I would wear for this very ocassion.
Believe it or not I’m not wearing a dress this time! To incorporate all things sparkly and shiny for my holiday oufit I started with a sequined pencil skirt. As the skirt is black sequins, and not something more loud like gold, this is definitely appropriate for a work function as it’s still business appropriate in shape and styling, but has the added glimmer of sequins. I belted the skirt to create a more defined waistline.
I went with a solid white V-neck T-shirt, which I tucked into the skirt so that I could add a colorful fun cardigan sweater and an elegant necklace. I opted for a cobalt blue sweater, though you could easily put any color cardigan sweater with this basic black & white palette. Again, I like to choose colors outside of the traditional holiday red to spice things up a bit. A lovely burgundy, emerald green, or even a shade of pink would be other great color choices.
My necklace is a great Betsey Johnson piece that I picked up a few years ago. With silver, black, and clear rhinestones the necklace adds a little more sparkle and shimmer than if I had worn no jewelry. For shoes, I went with my favorite Indigo by Clarks shoes. Of course I’m partial to these shoes because of their retro-vibes (and because they’re comfortable!). You could also rock this look with a more tradtional black patent leather peep-toe pump.
Achieving this look is simple, and it’s all based off of a black & white color palette with the addition of the colorful cardigan. Here’s the simple formula:
Holiday Shimmer Skirt +Colorful Cardigan Sweater + Statement Necklace
Check back next Monday for my last holiday outfit, which will be a slightly more casual look!
Skirt: Sejour; Sweater: Halogen (similar here); Necklace: Betsey Johnson; Shoes: Indigo by Clarks (similar here)
THAT’S what I should have worn. Dang it! Cute look.
Well the holidays aren’t over yet! Maybe you’ll have another event you can wear something similar to! Or, if you really want to wear it, just do it. I’d totally wear this to the grocery store and just pretend like I had somewhere important to be 😉
Cute! I wish I had an office holiday to put something like this together. Also, I love those heels!
Thanks Makara! They are superrrrrrrrrr comfortable!!
Nice outfit. You look so nice on it. That sequin skirt is gorgeous.
Thank you! I got it at Nordstrom, it’s a great piece!
You are just cute as a button in these pictures 🙂
Thanks Cassie!
